to pick up the new book from football great Frank Gifford, it will be out in the stores today. This would be a great gift idea for those die hard football fans, sports historians or just those that love the history of sports in your life.  It takes a great one of the game and one of their own to open the doors  to those players that made the game great so many years ago.

The book, GLORY GAME, is about the 1958 NFL Championship game.  Frank will be out and about signing books if you are located on the East Coast.  It is a great holiday idea and to have an autograph and meet the great Frank Gifford an added bonus for the gift giver.

To find out more about Frank’s appearances click on the link provided to Kathy Lee Gifford’s site for  the details,   http://www.kathieleegifford.com/lamb04/messages/102408glorygame.php.

the release of her new bookBreaking Dawn, the 4th and final installment in the Twightlight series, by going to her website http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/.  Note the counter is breaking down the days, hours, minutes and seconds so it is enough to put you into a trance.

It should also be noted that on Monday she leaked something about the new book plot that can only be found at Entertainment Weekly, http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20215228,00.html.  So if you have a tween at home that is driving you crazy be sure to let them know about this planned leak.

There are parties and events that are at bookstores and libraries all across the country so if you are not signed up for one or have a copy of the book reserved join the madness, there is still time.

It will be the biggest book event of the summer.  How fun that books can still create the buzz and that young people along with mid and older folks are awaiting this release with the same anticipation as well.

Jane Green ended her book tour on July 1st

For those of you lucky enough to have been to one of her events, we are sooooo jealous.  They sound like alot of fun.  Jane we hope the next book tour will bring you closer to us in Chicago.

Her new book Beach House is perfect for a summer read.  According to her blog it seems to be mirroring her recent purchase of a beach house, http://www.janegreen.com/  Is it art imitating life or life imatating art?

If you did not get to meet Jane. plan to pick up her latest Beach House or if you missed Second Chances that is now out in paperback.  You can go to Jane’s site and find out how to receive a bookplate if you like an autographed gift or plan to give one of her books as gift.

We are so proud to have Jane in the 24/8 family of authors that have graced our booktaurant, www.248bookclub.com and we hear she may be be joining us again.

J.A. Konrath has a new release on July 8th

An author and friend to the 24/8 community, J.A. Konrath, has a new book coming out on July 8th.  Fuzzy Navel is the 5th installment of his Lt. Jacqueline “Jack” Daniels beloved series.

If you are wondering about the title and the drink reference, well it follows a theme established in the first four novels in the series: WHISKEY SOUR, BLOODY MARY, RUSTY NAIL, and DIRTY MARTINI.  These books are available in paperback, hardcover, and on audio.

If you want to meet J.A. and pick up a signed copy of Fuzzy Navel or all of the Jack Daniels series check his website www.JAKonrath.com regularly to see where he will be.  His travels take him through Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan.  He is often accused of being the hardest working writer in the business and that is by other authors, so come out and show your support.

By the way, the sixth novel in the series Cherry Bomb is due out next year.  J.A. has made a great offer to those of you out there that like to read and review books.  Write a review of FUZZY NAVEL and put it someplace where people can read it, and you’ll be thanked in the acknowledgments of CHERRY BOMB, and he is serious.   Just email the link to your review (if you’ve already reviewed it, please send me the link again) and you’ll be entered in a contest.  Additionally, ten lucky winners, will receive free signed stuff and one will actually get a night out with J.A.  We can definitely vouch for how adorable and entertaining he is.

Yes, it seems too good to be true but the authors of Perfumes The Guide, Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez have come up with just that book.  This Guide rates 1,500 fragrances which should be a big help.

Maybe it would be a special and unexpected Mother’s Day to pick up a fragrance and then a copy of the book.  Mark where in the book you came up with the fragrance for your Mom.  Together this will be a very thoughtful way to honor your Mom or wife or other special woman in your life.
