This weekend in Hyde Park just south of downtown Chicago is the annual 57th Street Children’s Book Fair. The parade features your young children’s favorites: Curious George, Clifford the Red Dog, Medeline and Winnie the Pooh too. They will be able to hear stories and participate in activities and meet authors and have books signed especially for them. There are new books and used books so there are books galore. 24/8 has three copies of Amanda Foreman’s book, THE DUCHESS, which has been adapted for the big screen and premieres this Friday, September 19th. Amanda has written other period novels as well and you should definitely take a look at her site to learn more about her work as author and historian.

miss Gary Ecelbarger at Borders in Oak Brook, 1500 16th Street, Suite D, Oak Brook, IL talking about his new book GREAT COMEBACK. Gary tells a story of how Abraham Lincoln beat the odds to win the 1860 Republican Nomination.
What a great time to read about political races and underdogs. If you are a political fan this is a book for you. This event starts at 7:30 and he will be signing books as well. Not to early to start buying those holiday gifts and a signed book is always very thoughtful.
