Masterpiece Theater has dropped the Theater and is now Masterpiece but who cares.  Every Sunday night a Jane Austen adaptation is featured.  We have blogged about this before but that was before they had actually begun.

Well they are underway and spectacular.  Don’t let another Sunday go by without tuning in. You might find yourself at the bookstore before long picking up a copy of one of these Jane Austen books to see how they compare.

On Wednesday, January 23rd 24/8 was lucky enough to be present at the launch of The Good Liar by Laura Caldwell and At the City’s Edge by Marcus Sakey.  The event was held at The Landmark in Chicago and it was fabulous.

The local writing mafia was out in full force. We saw authors: J.A. Konrath, Renee Rosen, Stacey Ballis and Jen Lancaster.  The event was packed and praise was heard all night long.

Congrats to Laura and Marcus!

Coffee and Tea night.

The only cure for a cold and snowy Chicago Night, after a stock market roller coaster day, is some coffee and tea, or a mixture of both.   Sipping the new Waikiki Beach blend from Todd and  Holland Tea Merchants, www.todd-holland.com, while reading The Coffee Trader by David Liss will help to put things in perspective. This read is about how a sharp savvy market trader gambles to create the coffee  market in the mid 1600’s  Amsterdam.  They were right, history does repeat itself.
