Retailers become Publishers

Department stores have taken to spreading the holiday spirit with seasonal children’s books. Nordstrom publishes its first offering this year – “Once Upon a Holiday: The Moon Fell Out of the Sky,” $16.95. In conjunction with the book, the store is donating $10,000 to Friends of Libraries U.S.A. www.nordstrom.com

Kohl’s this year has a series called “Guess How Much I Love You,” books and coordinated plush toys, $5 each. All proceeds go to Kohl’s Cares for Kids, which helps support a number of children’s charities nationwide. www.kohls.com

At Saks Fifth Avenue, the annual holiday book is called “Snowpeople,” $16.99. The store will donate $2 for every book sold to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. www.saksfifthavenue.com
