The creativity and the engineering of pop up books make these magical works of art. I am lucky enough to have a pop up book fairy Godmother who has helped to support me in this addiction. In the book of lists, the best of the pop ups are:The First Noel, Jan Pietnkowski The First Christmas, Tomie dePaola. The Christmas Alphabet: Deluxe Anniversary Edition,,Robert Sabuda The 12 Days of Christmas: A Pop-Up Celebration, Robert Sabuda The Night Before Christmas, Robert Sabuda If you haven’t indulged before, these are a great way to start.

I always like to read a book around the holidays that ties in the season. This year I chose An Affair Before Christmas by Eloisa James. I am enjoying this book as I once enjoyed her writing when I read her Pleasures Trilogy. I have read a few of her book inbetween those and this release and they have been hit or miss for me. This one is a hit.
If you like Regency England books as I do, I recommend this book. The I is Falise so that poor JoAnne does not have a coronary lest anyone thinks she is reading romances. If you like a Christmas Regency Book then this is a must.
Enjoy and happy holidays.
Looking for a new book to read to the children this evening before they go to bed thinking of what Santa is bringing them? Anderson’s Bookshop www.andesonsbookshop.com is recommending, Who’s That Knocking on Christmas Eve? By Brett Jan This is a beautifully illustrated book about trolls and a Polar Bear, based on Kinapak who lives in Brookfield Zoo. www.brettjan.com
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good read.
I was surprised to discover I needed just one more for my Christmas list. Thinking that I would save time and just dash into Borders around dinner time, was the other surprise. Oops! The check out line curved around to the back of the store! So, it seems that a lot of people will be getting books for Christmas. As, I started to talk to the other customers around me in line, 2 people had the last minute top 10 cookbook list from ABC, as their shopping guide. Interesting. Those lists just keep popping up.

Santa is making them, I’m making them, and every magazine and columnist is making them. LISTS!
Favorite books from 2007, books that I would have liked to have read in 2007, the list goes on and on. The one I have enjoyed the most, was the Favorite Books of 2007, in the Chicago Tribune Books Section www.chicagotribune.com/favbooks2007 . Check your list twice against this one…or create your own. Whatever you do, it would be fun to start a journal for the coming year of books that you read At the end of 2008 ( DID I WRITE THAT DATE!) you can audit the list againist the other readers.
