Our love of reading always starts with the imagination, and storytelling is the best to ignite it. With the kids getting ready for school, there are some wonderful reading ready events.
August 15–Oak Park
FIREBIRD — a Story Experience
Megan Wells with Fiddler Jeff Teppema
Wednesday Evening at 8 PM
A family tale of a young prince and a magical bird. Add trolls, giants, a golden horse, a princess and wicked Loki. Through the use of storytelling, music and masks, Wells brings the Austin Gardens stage to life with an epic tale of loss, loyalty, wisdom and wonder.
Tickets $15
Austin Gardens, 100 block of Forest Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60302. Park entrance is across from the Oak Park Visitor’s Center, 158 Forest, free parking adjacent to park in Village parking garage. Bring a blanket, have a picnic. Chairs and Concessions available. Accessible parking and restrooms.
But, my idea of a true double header is storytelling at the Brown Cow Ice Cream Parlor. Ice cream and stories, what could be better in August. Starting august 21st.
