JoAnne and I took alittle time out to attend the Book Expo America in N.Y. these past few days.  It was so exciting to see all that is new in the book world, meet authors, talk to librarians and just dish with everyone that was so glad to be part of this great event.

There are so many exciting things coming down the line for 24/8 we hope you will come back for all that is on the way.

What famous authors did you see at Book Expo? And what was the general buzz in the aisles with regard to electronic books doing to paper books what the iPod has done to CDs?

Comment by Dan Witte

Dan, so many authors appeared at The Book Expo it was overwhelming for a first time attendee like myself. Our launch author Stacey Ballis was there so she had to be one of the highlights. There was Garry Trudeau from Doonesbury fame to Dr. Alan Greenspan of our Federal Reserve fame, so you can see it ran the gamet. All genres were represented as well: sci-fi, history, romance, thrillers, art books, travel, children’s, self help, gift books, cookbooks, business and a host of others as well.

There certainly were exhibitors talking about the new technologies out there and products for dowloading books and audio books, but it was the printed books that dominated the show this year. I think this will be something to watch most definitely, but I am not sure we have thought of the right technology yet to the impact that the iPod has, maybe apple has something up their sleeves for this arena as well.

Falise is right, it is still paper that dominates, though, technology raised it’s electronic head in an unusal way. http://www.longpen.com was an idea of author Margaret Atwood. A real time, real pen and ink autographing device that operates over the internet. the Ipod of the author experience.
